Sidewalk Counseling

Sidewalk counseling, when done in a peaceful, prayerful and law-abiding manner, saves lives and supports women in crisis.
Even with abortion banned in Indiana, Sidewalk Counseling is necessary. This program reaches women before they travel out of state for their abortion, increasing the likelihood they will choose life.
Voices for Life’s team leads Mishawaka’s Sidewalk Advocates for Life chapter ensuring that sidewalk advocates are present whenever Mishawaka’s Planned Parenthood is open. Our team also offers support to sidewalk advocates around Indiana, and coordinates with local leaders to ensure illegal activity is reported.

STORIES FROM THE SIDEWALK
Melanie L.
“I handed a blessing bag with the Local Resource card to a young father. I said ‘We want to let you know there are other lower cost health care options in the area. They don’t have come here.’ He said, ‘So this is like PP, but without the abortions?’ I responded, ‘yes, but also free!’ He thanked me.”
Lydia
“I stopped a young woman who was driving out of Planned Parenthood and said, ‘We are here sharing free resources for pregnant women.’ The woman said, ‘Well, I am pregnant, so that’s exactly what I need right now. Thank you!’”
Ramona W.
“A woman came to Planned Parenthood looking for free services. She pulled over and told me she needed free help, and Planned Parenthood wasn’t giving that. I was able to send her somewhere where she could get actual free help.”
INDIANA’S ABORTION FACILITIES AND SIDEWALK ADVOCACY LEADERS
With Indiana’s new abortion law, SB1, in place all abortions must take place in a hospital. Planned Parenthood is still operating throughout the state to offer abortion referrals out of state. Sidewalk Advocates reach women before they travel out of state for their abortion, increasing the likelihood they will choose life.
