ADVISORY BOARD COMMITTEE – Indianapolis

Committee Member Expectations

Volunteer committee members are expected to:

• Serve a two-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement.
• Attend bi-monthly Advisory Committee meetings (virtual or in person).
• Actively support the mission and values of Voices for Life.
• Participate in committee discussions and strategic planning.
• Make introductions to individuals and organizations within their sphere of influence.
• Serve in at least one Committee Role. 
• Attend Voices for Life fundraising events and networking opportunities when possible.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive organizational discussions.
• Serve as positive ambassadors for Voices for Life within the community.

Committee members should reside in Indianapolis or a surrounding suburb and have an active interest in strengthening the pro-life movement in Central Indiana.

Committee Roles

Members may serve in more than one role depending on their experience and network.

1. Activist Recruitment – Build a strong pro-life activist base capable of launching and sustaining Voices for Life programming throughout Indianapolis. 
2. Strategic Planning – Provide local insight that helps Voices for Life make wise long-term decisions.
3. Community Outreach – Develop meaningful relationships with organizations throughout Indianapolis and expand Voices for Life’s network through personal introductions.
4. Major Donor Development – Cultivate relationships with individuals capable of making transformational gifts.
5. Grassroots Fundraising – Build broad community ownership through small and mid-level giving.
6. Pro-Life Collaboration – Strengthen relationships and encourage unity across the Indianapolis pro-life community.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

We do accept applications for Communications and Programs Interns year round. Our next intern cohort will start in September.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. You can use your unique skills and talents to fight abortion in Indiana. 

Prayer Team

Support the mission through the power of prayer. Join our Prayer Team as we pray for our activists, the women and families we encounter, and the work of Voices for Life. To join the Prayer Team chat, contact Melanie at melanie@voicesforlife.com.

Sidewalk Advocate 

Sidewalk advocacy, when done in a peaceful, prayerful and law-abiding manner, saves lives and supports women in crisis. You can find a complete list of Sidewalk Advocate teams throughout the State here. 

Sidewalk Advocates must attend a training and a shadowing shift before starting. Email Melanie to schedule training at melanie@voicesforlife.com. 

Door to Door Canvasser 

Our compassionate canvassing team goes door to door in our community to start productive conversations about the injustice of abortion, and to share local resources to support women in need.

Overpass Outreach Volunteer 

Our friendly Overpass Outreach team holds a large banner over the highway overpass presenting a pro-life message to all those driving by. 

No training required. Email Melanie to join the next Overpass Outreach Team at melanie@voicesforlife.com. 

Office Volunteer 

Our office volunteers provide a variety of support; help stuffing envelopes for bulk mailings, doing research, fixing things around the office, building structures for our tabling displays, preparing materials for events and programs, sorting TPRs, and more. We will put your admin, handyman, or organization skills to good use. Some of this work may also be done remotely.

Events Volunteer 

Our energetic events team helps with various needs during events; set-up, tear-down, registration, tabling, and more.

Sanctity of Life Team Leader 

Sanctity of Life team leaders coordinate a pro-life group at their church or school. We will provide a template to launch the group, recruit members, how to work with your pastor, and suggestions for group activities.

BOARD OPPORTUNITIES

Voices for Life is currently recruiting for 2-3 new board members. 

Potential board members should have a strong commitment to defending life. We are specifically looking for board members with strong community connections to build volunteer and fiscal partners, or members with HR experience. Time commitments include attending quarterly board meetings (in-person or via Zoom), helping within their board committee, and attending 2 Voices for Life events throughout the year. 

We are well established in the South Bend area and are looking to rapidly expand throughout central and southern Indiana. As we grow it will be invaluable to have board representation in those areas, however, we are open to board anywhere in the state of Indiana.
