DESCRIPTION:Indiana Supreme Court Mission Trip\nThursday\, September 10th  |  6 AM  |  Indianapolis \nJoin us at the Indiana Supreme Court as we stand as a witness for LIFE during the Religious Freedom Hearing challenging Indiana’s abortion law. \nOur goal is to fill the courtroom with pro-life advocates and demonstrate that Hoosiers remain committed to protecting both women and unborn children. If you’re in Central Indiana\, we would love to have you join us. \nFor those traveling from Northern Indiana\, we will offer a free carpool and caravan departing from South Bend. If you need assistance coordinating a carpool from your area\, please contact Melanie at melanie@voicesforlife.com. \nPlease note: Seating inside the courtroom is limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. We recommend arriving at the courthouse by 9:00 AM to maximize your chances of securing a seat\, although courtroom capacity is ultimately beyond our control. \nSchedule: \n\n6 am – Leave South Bend\n9 am – Arrive at the courthouse\n10 am – Hearing start\n11 am – Hearing ends\n11:30 am – Lunch\n1:00 pm – Depart for South Bend\n\nRegister here for mission trip details and to join us in the courtroom or for the carpool.\nCase Update: \nA religious freedom lawsuit challenging Indiana’s near-total abortion ban is headed directly to the Indiana Supreme Court following a decision by a county judge. \nIndiana’s 2022 abortion law prohibits nearly all abortions\, with limited exceptions for serious risks to the mother’s life or health\, fatal fetal anomalies\, and pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. \nShortly after the law was enacted\, the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana filed a lawsuit on behalf of Hoosier Jews for Choice and several anonymous plaintiffs. The suit argues that Indiana’s abortion ban violates the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act by substantially burdening the religious practices of individuals whose faith traditions permit or require abortion in circumstances beyond those allowed under Indiana law. \nIn March\, Marion County Superior Court Judge Christina Klineman issued a permanent injunction preventing enforcement of the abortion ban against a limited group of Hoosiers with religious objections to the law. \nThe case will now move directly to the Indiana Supreme Court for review. \nRegister here for mission trip details and to join us in the courtroom or for the carpool.
